In an age where all humans are registered at birth, screened for defects, and administered genetic therapies while stil in the womb, Ace was born off the grid. His mother was the bored wife of a geological surveyoer who worked too much. She started an affair with the man who cleaned their pool and gutters. The affair produced Ace. Ace’s mother kept the pregnancy a secret to hide her infidelity, and gave birth to Ace while her husband was out in space on a series of UN missions.
Ace bounced from house to house as a child, never having received genetic screening, with all the new homes he entered presuming he did. Consequently, Ace was born with several defects of character. Ace learned to hide these defects until his adolescence, when he delighted in feeding his sadistic nature and penchant for games.
