Personal History

Katarina was born into the very lap of luxury she would later partially disdain. As the oldest sibling in the Gustavson family, she is heir apparent to the Aedylon Empire. Against her father’s wishes, Katarina entered into military duty at the young age of 16, and proved herself a skilled swordswoman and field commander. Ever interested in military tactics, she further enrolled into the empire’s officer’s school. After graduating with disctinction, Katarina took control of the Royal Guard, the very regiment tasked with protecting her family’s life. Under her watchful eye, Katarina expand the scope of the Royal Guard to become less a reactive set of bodyguards, and more a proactive, elite set of soldiers to be sent on missions of importance for the empire. Nicknamed “Katrine” by her younger sister Amelie as a means of diminishing her full regal name, Katarina embraced it, thinking it more suited her touch with the common man in the empire.
