Air-El is a thin young woman, and not especially strong or athletic. Air-El looks like just her mother did at her age. Not many people ever laid eyes on Damien. If they had, they would wonder how much of his looks or personality actually went into Air-El, as she is nearly identical to her mother. Air-El’s powers lay dormant. She is, however, a rare mimic. Perhaps the only mimic ever documented. While she cannot control the fundamental physical construcs as her mother can, Air-El will eventually learn how to mirror any other Controllers’ ability she is near, which can provide for astounding versatility

Air-El is the product of Stacia Walton (The Ruthless) and Damien, former founder and leader of the Witch Hunters. During Air-El’s conception, Stacia climaxed in goddess form, which released an energy signature sufficient to annihilate an entire galaxy worth of heavenly bodies. Damien also died in this energy release. Stacia raised Air-El on her own, frequently taking her to meet the L’Ni, who took a fondness to the young Earthling. The L’Ni created the name “Air-El” for her, which translates roughly to “Daughter of the Spring” or “Herald of the Sun”, depending on how you look at the phrasing. Air-El died before her time, and was resurrected by Anya later after The Nine mistakenly believed that Air-El’s remains were those on Stacia. The Nine forced Anya to resurrect the remains and were shocked when Air-El came back instead of Stacia.
